Our volunteers at CCAC have made a pledge to all animals that, through no fault of their own, have been thrust into our often cruel world, ending up at what will be the final crossroads of their life…the Animal Shelter. These poor, defenseless creatures deserve a second chance. Animal shelters’ biggest struggle comes from the lack of reliable volunteers.

MISSION

Our pet care volunteers provide hands-on care to the animals ensuring that the shelter living environment remains safe, clean, and as comfortable as possible. They also aid the shelter staff with daily cleaning chores, walking the dogs, and socializing with the puppies and cats.

*to promote the adoption, fostering and rescuing of canines and felines at CCAC;

*to implement programs to benefit the shelter’s animals such as sterilization, vetting, vaccination, medication, animal medical intake, re-homing, owner surrender;

*to coordinate fundraising and offsite adoption events;

*to conduct humane and  pet education seminars to educate our community regarding firstly, how to be a responsible per owner and secondly, to spay/neuter their pets to control the overpopulation of our city and county dogs and cats

VISION

*to organize fundraisers and apply for grants to renovate the existing shelter or build a new one;

*to build a pet adoption center including a low cost spay/neuter and vetting clinic and a recreational/educational center;

*our latest is to start volunteer program at small communities that don't have an animal shelter to launch foster, adoption, re-homing, rescue, fundraiser, etc.

* to open or build a non profit thrift store to generate revenues and to accommodate pet-related events.

OUR STORY

The initial group of volunteers at CCAC was founded in July 2011 to enable animal victims of abuse, neglect or homelessness to have a second chance at life. Some of the original founders are Tammy Morris, Toddy Hawkins and Bessie White.

OPPORTUNITIES

SAA offers diverse opportunities to learn, gain new skills and experiences, meet new people and get involved in the community.

At CCAC, our volunteers exercise, socialize, walk, bathe, groom, foster, transport, hug and love each and every one of our furry friends. We would be honored to have you join our team!

We need a total of 80 volunteers to fill our Monday-Friday morning and afternoon shifts, and to maintain a pool of substitutes.

COMMUNITY

Finally, we are thankful to CACC’s staff and ACOs for embracing our volunteer organization, to our community for adopting from its local shelter, to our loyal supporters and to rescue organizations for accepting our shelter animals on a regular basis.

"Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms". George Eliot

FERAL CAT PROGRAM
Open Positions: Coordinator and volunteers

A feral cat program can have a dramatic impact on the number of cats entering a community's shelters and on the number of cats euthanized. For example, cat impounds and euthanasias at county shelters can decrease by over 40% after offering free or low spay/neuter for ferals. And cat impounds at city shelters can decline 28% and cat euthanasias 73% thanks to feral cat assistance program.

Organizations on even the smallest budget can start a feral cat program. It's as simple as starting a feral cat caregiver support group, offering free spay/neuter to just one caregiver or lending out a humane trap. Start small, and as our program gains support and interest, expand accordingly.
