We rely solely on donations and your generosity enables us to rescue and care for dogs and cats until they are adopted or sent to rescue. In some cases, extensive medical treatments are required in addition to the routine spay-neuter, rabies vaccination and vet care expenses. We also purchase canine and feline vaccines, wormer, medications, pet food for our fosters, etc. Check us out on Facebook to view the stories of our most recent rescued animals.

Catch the Vision, Share our Mission, Make a Difference

What does SAA do?  As we have the resources, we pull animals from shelters as well as rescuing homeless dogs and cats from Colbert, Lauderdale and Franklin Counties to foster, vaccine, spay/neuter, HW test and treatment and find homes or send them to rescue; we coordinate adoption events and fundraisers to support our programs. We will expand geographically to other communities as we have the resources.

Colbert County Animal Shelter

Homelessness is not just a human problem. U.S. animal shelters must put to death nearly 4 million dogs and cats every year because of simple math: There are too many animals and not enough worthy adoptive homes. You can help prevent this—

Never Breed or Buy. Always Adopt. Always Spay and Neuter.

 10am to 2pm
CCAC is now open on the first Saturday monthly

Most of the animals that come into the care of CCAC are lost, homeless, unwanted or sorrowfully relinquished because their owners can no longer care for them due to major life changes.

While loving, caring, feeding, walking, socializing, training, rehabilitating, bonding with the animals, the volunteers rebuild the animals’ trust in humans.

Join us. Submit an application today.

Volunteering as a dog walker is a meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of homeless dogs in your community.
If you are an animal lover interested in brightening the day of a lonely dog that needs a little attention and exercise please submit an application today. The shelter is open Mon - Fri 9am - 12pm & 1:30pm - 5pm.
Submit an application today.
